The Eastern Group of Companies is the result of an open-minded transition from one business strategy, into an additional two new and diverse business opportunities.

We take position, own inventory, buy and sell Truck load quantities.

Originally founded exclusively as a distributor of steel and other metals, Eastern Metal Trading Co., Inc. opened for business in 1991. Eastern Metals has always maintained three areas of business:

1) Prime Importing of First Quality metals for the distribution market.
2) The purchase and sale of Surplus and Salvage metals in the "Spot Market"
3) Contractual buying and selling of Domestic Metals & Metals for Export.

Out of the experience gained in buying and selling "Opportunity Materials" in the metals industry, Eastern found that markets in other commodities had similar distribution chains. Materials have different levels of buyers based on price and quality. Markets and applications thrive for each one of the levels.

By the Mid 1990's, business contacts led us to take an opportunity in the Plywood business, buying a large lot of plywood in a distressed situation. We recognized the opportunity like we had in the metals business, time and time again. The success of a few early transactions, and with the Internet all the rage, SurplusPlywood.Com was born.

SurplusPlywood.Com has one simple business strategy, to be a non-traditional source of plywood and other wood products.  We buy opportunity materials in the market place.  We are a stocking distributor without a permanent home.  Although, we typically have inventory in Camden, NJ., we also buy and sell all over the US and Canada. We take large positions put them in public warehouses and liquidate inventory.  We sell what we own, when and where we have it.

Eastern Asset Recovery rounds out our three business strategy. We aren't an old dog, and we do have some new tricks.  Since our success in branching out into the plywood business, we have continued to diversify, gaining experience in many other commodities.  We have bought and sold large volume inventories in many different forms, as well as other type of assets in the Market Opportunity, Surplus and Salvage category.
